MSU Department Rebrand: Adkerson School of Accountancy
Brand and Identity System
Typography
Editorial Design
This project is a rebrand of an academic department
in MSU. The constraint was to not use any of the existing identity system,
which includes the color maroon and the bulldog mascot. The branding system is showcased through a graphic manual.
Accounting is systematic, logical, balanced, and organized, so it is important to me to create a logo for ASAC that follows the characteristics of accounting. From the strict grid system to the color choices, I wanted it to be reflective of accounting.
The color scheme that I chose here was black, white, and blue. It is simple and straightforward, with having a black and white for the brand identity system. And the accent color blue is to represent trust and security, which is important quality for an accountant to possess.
The pattern system is created using the letterform "A" from the logo icon. Then the negative space is filled with a color and then multiplied to look like graphs. And in accounting, what happens to one side should be balanced with the other side, thus the graph on the bottom side.
